This sunset at Skaket Beach, Cape Cod in June was phenomenal. The sun halo was incredible and lasted well after the sun had sunk below the horizon ( more photos to follow). The local photographers told me it was the best sunset by far they had seen this year. I was so fortunate to have been there.
Skaket Beach is so beautiful, the tide goes out for miles leaving tide pools, and is truly a photographer's paradise.
"Sun halo, also known as '22 degree halo', is an optical phenomenon that occurs due to sunlight refracting in millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. It takes the form of a ring with a radius of approximately 22 degrees around the sun or the moon
