Description
"Oh the white seagull, the bold seagull,
He makes on the shore his nest,
And he tries what the inland fields may be,
But he loveth the sea the best!
And away from land, a thousand leagues
He goes 'mid surging foam—
What matter to him is land or shore,
For the sea is his truest home! "
The Seagull by Mary Howitt
A Seagull caught in motion, just as its beak touched the water, hunting for fish in the ocean.
It is said in coastal areas that the souls of drowned sailors and fishermen may become seagulls, and that therefore these birds should never be killed.
Other symbolic words that can be associated with a seagull sighting are cunning, perseverance, fearlessness, survival, and freedom.
